Cultivate Homeschool Co-op
Parent Handbook

Welcome

Welcome to Cultivate Homeschool Co-op!

We are excited to partner with your family in providing a community where students can learn, create, and build lasting friendships.

Our goal is to come alongside homeschooling parents by offering enriching classes, meaningful relationships, and opportunities that complement the excellent education already happening at home.

Thank you for being part of our community!

Students Building Project

Our Mission

Cultivate Homeschool Co-op exists to provide enrichment, community, & connection for homeschool families in the Mid-Ohio Valley

Statement of Community

We strive to create an environment where every family feels welcomed and respected. We ask all participants to demonstrate kindness, patience, respect, and encouragement toward students, parents, volunteers, and instructors, as well as the facility.

Parent Participation

Cultivate is a cooperative community.

At least one parent or designated guardian is expected to remain on-site during co-op hours.

Each family is asked to serve during the co-op day by assisting in classrooms, supervising activities, helping with setup or cleanup, childcare, or other volunteer roles.

Working together allows us to provide high-quality experiences while keeping costs affordable.

Attendance

Regular attendance helps students build friendships and participate fully in class activities.

If your family will be absent, please notify the co-op as soon as possible by posting in the group chat for the courses or individually messaging your child's teacher.

Arrival & Dismissal

Families should arrive a few minutes before classes begin, and meet in the Family Life Center (the large common area).

Between hours, the teachers and volunteers will escort their students back to the Family Life Center (the large common area), where they will move to their next class.

Students should remain under adult supervision until classes begin and as soon as the last class is over. The class teachers and volunteers are only responsible for monitoring children (other than their own) during the class time.

Class Placement

Families select classes during registration.

Some classes have limited enrollment.

If a class reaches capacity, families can choose another course for that session. Most classes are offered more than one time in a year, and they can try again during another session.

Cultivate reserves the right to adjust class assignments when necessary to maintain appropriate class sizes.

Behavior Expectations

Students are expected to:

  • Treat others with kindness and respect.

  • Listen to instructors and volunteers.

  • Care for classrooms, equipment, and supplies.

  • Clean up after activities in the Family Life Center.

  • Use appropriate language.

  • Follow safety instructions at all times.

Bullying, harassment, physical aggression, or repeated disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.

Parents may be asked to assist with behavioral concerns or, in rare situations, remove a child from class if necessary.

Parent Conduct

Parents play an important role in creating a positive atmosphere.

We ask parents to:

  • Encourage instructors and volunteers.

  • Address concerns respectfully.

  • Model kindness and patience.

  • Help maintain a welcoming environment for all families.

Health & Safety

Please keep students home if they have:

  • A fever within the past 24 hours

  • Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours

  • A contagious illness

  • Any condition that could place other families at risk

Parents should provide information regarding allergies, medications, or medical concerns during registration.

Emergency medical care may be sought if a parent cannot be reached.

Photography

Photos may occasionally be taken during classes or special events for use on Cultivate's website, newsletters, or social media.

Families who do not wish for their child to appear in photographs may indicate this during registration.

Communication

Most communication will occur through Class Dojo, or individual calls and texts when necessary.

Parents are responsible for reviewing announcements, schedule changes, and important updates.

Tuition & Fees

Registration fees and tuition help cover facility rental, supplies, insurance, and instructional expenses.

Payment is due according to the published registration schedule.

Unless otherwise stated, registration fees are non-refundable.

Weather & Closures

If co-op must cancel due to severe weather or unforeseen circumstances, families will be notified as early as possible by an announcement on Class Dojo. If you are unable to use the Class Dojo app on a smart phone, or check for updates on the computer, please discuss with co-op leadership other options of contact in case of emergencies.

Liability

Participation in Cultivate Homeschool Co-op involves normal risks associated with educational, recreational, and enrichment activities.

By participating, families acknowledge these risks and agree to release Cultivate Homeschool Co-op, its volunteers, instructors, and host facilities from liability except where prohibited by law.

***Important - our gracious host church allows us to use their beautiful facility. We agree in turn to sign a liability waver provided by their insurance.

Agreement

By registering for Cultivate Homeschool Co-op, I acknowledge that I have read and understand this Parent Handbook.

I agree to support the mission and policies of Cultivate Homeschool Co-op and will work together with instructors, volunteers, and other families to help create a safe, respectful, and encouraging learning environment for all participants.
